Newfoundland and Labrador’s government has been proactive in addressing minimum wage. Recent times have seen significant steps taken to ensure that the minimum wage keeps pace with the rising cost of living and reflects the province’s economic realities. The previous minimum wage rate saw its latest increment of $0.50 on October 1, 2023, elevating it to $15.00 per hour.

Current NL Minimum Wage Status

As of April 1, 2024, the minimum wage in Newfoundland and Labrador will be $15.60 per hour, and the minimum overtime wage rate will increase to $23.40.
